어린왕자

 

1943년 발표. 사막에 불시착한 비행사인 나는 이상한 소년을 만나 양을 그려 달라는 부탁을 받는다. 그 소년은 애인인 장미꽃을 자신이 사는 별에 남겨 두고 여행길에 오른 왕자로서 몇몇 별을 순례한 후에 지구에 온 것이다.

 

외로운 왕자에게 한 마리의 여우가 나타나서 본질적인 것은 눈에 보이지 않는다는 것, 다른 존재를 길들여 인연을 맺어 두는 일이 중요하다는 것을 가르친다. 왕자는 이 세계 속에서 자기가 책임을 져야만 하는 장미꽃이 존재한다는 사실에 깊은 뜻이 있음을 깨닫는다. 시적이며 고귀한 분위기 속에 지혜를 짜낸 휴머니스틱 한 작품이다.
